The article I found said that it was a sinkhole caused by a 'tropical storm'. It didn't say what sort of storm, but I have to assumed it was earthquake-related. What else could cause a hole to open up that's that big? It goes down at least a hundred feet. The mind boggles.
That's terrible. Just think if it had opened up underneath a skyscraper. I hope they're wrong about the possible death.
So, um, what now? How do you... sort out a sinkhole 300 feet deep? Do they fill it up? How much dirt/cement would you even need for that big a hole? Do they build a bridge over it instead? Hope that the mole people don't pop up demanding we stop destroying their underground tunnels?
