Wow. So, I've watched 4.5 episodes of the Vampire Diaries. So far, the only things that are even remotely like the books are the names, the lore, and the writing in diaries. I didn't think it was possible to stray that far from a book plot and still claim the show has anything whatsoever to do with the books.

And actually, now that I think about it, not even all the names are the same. I'm pretty sure Elena had a 4-year-old niece, not a 15-year-old brother.

I actually liked the books (or at least the old series, I haven't read the new ones). Granted, I read them right after Twilight and I liked the fact that main characters integral to the plot died, and not just random B-listers and villains. It was a nice change.

But this... I'm kind of amazed. And disgusted.
