Wow. So, I've watched 4.5 episodes of the Vampire Diaries. So far, the only things that are even remotely like the books are the names, the lore, and the writing in diaries. I didn't think it was possible to stray that far from a book plot and still claim the show has anything whatsoever to do with the books.

And actually, now that I think about it, not even all the names are the same. I'm pretty sure Elena had a 4-year-old niece, not a 15-year-old brother.

That reminds me of how much they messed up the movie version of "Blood and Chocolate". On one hand, I was glad they gave Aiden some balls in the film. On the other hand, it was a completely different story so it hardly mattered.
